In 2014, at the invitation of gallery MISAKO & ROSEN, Dutch artist Daan van Golden presented his first exhibition within Japan in 50 years. Van Golden's prior exhibition in Tokyo took place in 1964 at the now legendary space Naiqua Gallery; the work that Van Golden presented in Japan at that time - paintings based upon Japanese wrapping paper and fabric pattern design - continues to exert and influence on artists internationally. "Made in Tokyo" documents visually and via a newly commissioned text by Tokyo-based writer Andrew Maerkle, Van Golden's time in Japan in the 1960's as well as the exhibition he produced upon his much overdue return; the book includes a number of previously unpublished images and offers a contextualization for Van Golden's work within the 1960's art world of Japan.
