This book is all about spirits. Grosse Spritztour presents more than 32 paintings by Monika Baer – her newest series, dealing with alcohol as a subject. On the canvas the artist stages bottles as they are found on supermarket shelves, or in someone’s apartment after a party; in large format, in front of blurred, pastel coloured backdrops… As Kerstin Stakemeier puts it, “Baers painting is a desiring painting, painting as an undeferred, convinced, humorous, and unapologetic problem practice . . .”
