DIAMOND STINGILY in
The Light in the Window

Buffalo AKG Art Museum
1285 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, New York 14222

October 30, 2026 – May 9, 2027

The Light in the Window, gathers works by 45 artists which demonstrate complex notions of home. The exhibition features primarily works held in the Buffalo AKG Art Museum collection, including a 2016 work from Diamond Stingily's Entryways series: a worn wooden door staged with protective measures, invoking the domestic space of her grandmother, Estelle, who always kept both a bat and a dish of candy in her entryway. Stingily's work—in the words of curator Holly E. Hughes—"transform[s] domestic spaces and familiar objects into thought-provoking metaphors that connect us to the shared experience of what it means to have a place in the world."

Curated by Holly E. Hughes, Godin-Spaulding Senior Curator for the Collection.
