PHILIPPE THOMAS

Centre Pompidou, Paris
Level 4
Nov 11, 2023 — Ongoing

The work of French artist PHILIPPE THOMAS (1951-1995) bears witness to the collision that occurred in the 1980s between the languages of business and art. Created in 1987, his agency, readymades belong to everyone®, took a playful and creative approach to the apparatus of socialization in works of art: through titles, interpretation, marketing, or critical commentary.

On view are works from the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou accompanied by new donations to the museum. Shown together, the works in this exhibition aim to reconsider this cardinal figure of conceptualism during his time.
