Eine Stadt als Atelier [The City as Studio] brings together works by thirty five artists who live or have lived in Brussels. The exhibition proposes Brussels as studio in itself, a site where the permeability between urban life and artistic practice is unusually direct. The processes of its artists—who appropriate, reinterpret, and reevaluate cultural objects into their work—both mimics and produces Brussels's urban fabric, whose imperfections, improvisations, and prosthetic fixes unfold into the city's singular, almost deranged energy.
