Jemison’s installation in the MATRIX gallery reflects her ongoing exploration of the use of flight, air, sea, and sky as evocative political metaphors, particularly in the words of Nat Turner and Huey P. Newton. Staging sculpture, lenticular prints, and drawings on brass and silvered glass against a decommissioned theatrical backdrop, Jemison invites viewers to consider perspective and perception as both optical and embodied phenomena.
