This monograph accompanies a body of recent works developed between Paris and Geneva, in dialogue with Steffani Jemison’s solo exhibitions at Lafayette Anticipations (2025–26) and the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève (2024).

Through video, text, performance, and sound, Jemison explores the ways bodies move, resist, and evade. The book includes essays by Andrea Bellini and Caroline Honorien; a conversation between the artist and choreographer Ligia Lewis; writings by Jemison and an excerpt from Flight Theater, a performative text co-written with Quincy Flowers; and a reader of historical texts by Virginia Hamilton, Nat Turner, Gwendolyn Brooks, Lucille Clifton, Gregg Bordowitz, Kazim Ali, Dionne Brand, and Ashon Cawley.
